  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ounces whiskey (such as bourbon or scotch) Fresh mint leaves, for garnish Club soda, for serving Lime wedges, for serving

  1. Combine the water and sugar in a medium saucepan and place it over medium heat.
  2. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Remove the syrup from the heat and stir in the whiskey until well combined.
  4. Allow the syrup to cool completely before using or storing it in an airtight container.
  5. Muddle fresh mint leaves in the bottom of a glass to release their oils and flavor.
  6. Add ice to the glass, followed by 1-2 ounces of the whiskey-infused simple syrup.
  7. Top with club soda and stir gently.
  8. Garnish with additional mint leaves and serve with a lime wedge on the side.
